Hi everyone. Never thought I'd see the day that I might consider commemorating my PC, but now that I've had a few zeroes I'm thinking about tempting fate by labeling myself a PC survivor. Has anyone seen any designs or artwork that might fit the bill? Maybe the light blue ribbon with "survivor"?

Not sure why I'm considering this, but it's been on my mind. Maybe I want people to ask about it so I can speak about it? Maybe I want to mark this as something in the rear view mirror? Don't know. Just a thought. Not sure how serious I am since I don't have any other tattoos (and actually, am not supposed to get one because of my knee replacement). But, you only live once.

Japanese dragon with Japonese lines around shoulder with sword of damocles in its mouth in the midst of some properly shaded clouds and smoke. Or you can get a ribbon...

How about a figure of a prostate, complete with eyes, nose and mouth, with "X's" over the eyes, perhaps with stick hands and legs.

I made it to age 61 without a tattoo, even being a drunk sailor in sailor towns, lol. I think a lot of them are beautiful and can send a personal message, I have thought of having one, even now, but still not sure. 2 of my 3 kids have them. my youngest is still holding out.

Tatoo's are big over here as well as else where. I will never have one, though I did get my left ear pierced and wore a gold stud as I went thru my aging hippy stage a several years back. At least I did't have a grey stringy pony tail with a huge bald spot in the middle, nor , worse yet, bun to cover it up. Buzz cut to da max for me to da box…..

I got my PCa commemorative tattoos for free. Well, actually paid for by my insurance company -- a small blue dot on each hip and one on my abdomen for aligning the radiation equipment.

That was great! You made me go and locate mine from 2007. Still there. And I have been saying that I have never had a tattoo.

If I am unfortunate enough to need radiation I may enhance the tattoos by surrounding them them with a target or cross hairs. I can show the ones on my hips to the ladies easily enough, but the other one... Only if they really want to see it. wink

Gotta take whatever amusement I can get from this rotten disease.

Bohe, good point. I do have tattoos also, forgot about my SRT ones, have 3, and they are still there of course.

Logo: I am sick of what is little left of my hair, I would be all about the buzz it off bit, but still very self conscious of the large, triangular shaped scar on the very top of my scalp. It is recessed, and dim red in color. This was from the plastic surgery I underwent after they removed the porocarcinoma cancer after my 2nd event with it. When I get enough hair to cut, I just have barely enough comb-over to mostly hide it. I tire of people asking me what's that thing on your head. Don't know what I am going to do when its fully exposed.

My radiation tats are easily visible due to the reverse puberty hair loss due to three years of Lupron.

I was PO'd at the tech as he insisted on black dots while I wanted red stars. I bet I could've gotten an entire full color sleeve for the cost of those "medically necessary" dots.

UG - I find myself from time to time wondering if I too should commemorate my success against the PCa beast by adding more artwork; haven't researched it enough to know if there is anything out there that I would consider though. Tat's are/should be very personal and for a very good reason; I've got a "few" that I feel fit that criteria so I would simply say be sure you give this some serious thought.

DavidG I've heard you talk before about finding the right sword of damocles for your potential artwork, guessing you haven't found that yet!?

It is amusing - I have "no" tattoos, if they have to be big enough to find. I can't even find the three from my RT.

Not long ago I was doing some paperwork, and that question was asked - do you have tattoos or other indentifying marks. Government forms, so you have to say yes on pain of being made a liar over something incredibly stupid, but it certainly wasn't the intent of the question.

(wish I had a spell-checker)

The problem I have finding my tats is the ever expanding gut from Lupron. Tomorrow is the last shot and I am looking forward to someday having a T level higher than my shoe size.

I thought about getting a zipper tattoo to cover the scar from my open surgery, but I don't think my spouse would go for it.

Redwings, that was pretty good. never thought about the triangle reference before, I remember the album cover from my distant past.

I have many other scars that I never give another thought to, but being that shaped, deeply recessed, and being red, it's getting harder to hide. When they did the complex scalp surgery/plastic surgery, the surgeon asked if I wanted it to show on the back of my head or the top. However I was 45-46 at the time, and lots of hair on top, so it seemed the logical choice. Those comb-overs are getting harder and harder for me to pull off, lol. It's a hopeless battle.

My neatest scar looks like a shark bite for real. It's 9 1/2" long and curves, it was from having my gall bladder removed in 1983. My how times have changed, I understand they remove them now with 2-3 tiny holes and its done as a day surgery. I was in the hospital 10 days for mine.

Ed/F8 - your walnut idea was great and simple. Perhaps above it, it could say PC, and below it SUCKS.
that would send a pretty obvious message.

i like the blue ribbon but it needs a little more masculinity in it.

I was telling one of the GFMPH guys last month that I thought I would get a color appropriate small Sword of Damacoles put on the approximate place on my belly that my prostate would be, as a recognition of my slowly but not high enough increasing rise in post-RRP Psa. That's how I feel sometimes, that sword hanging over my head.... devil confused smilewinkgrin

My RT tatts were put on pieces of round tape and applied to my skin. With a little weight loss, my marks could be moved a little here and there so I have no blue marks on my skin.
I did how ever see a tattoo called "Cancer Warrior" that I am leaning towards. As of now, I have no tatts but have had my left ear pierced since 1985.

There are actually some pretty good 3D zipper tattoos out there. Not my thing, but done well they can be very realistic.

Level of regret with tattoos can be very high. I'd say that one should really think it through for months and not get something that looks like clip art if they end up getting something.

well, here is my take whether you like it or not.

seeing as i am a life time member of the PC Society, i might as well accept it and celebrate it!

every moment i am awake that 800 pound gorilla pc will be sitting in the room with me , i feel a tat would be my psychologic reminder as to who is REALLY in charge.

That would be us! and that beast will never, ever, win. he might knock us down for a moment, but we'll be right back , forever fighting PC or the side-effects (physical or psychological) as long as God gives us the strength.

as the september GFMPH is near me i'm gonna try to have it done by then. maybe i'll bring the tatooister along!
