This doctor is an oncologist? As I thought about it, you mentioned "low dose" rapamycin. With immune system modulators, dose can have paradoxical effects. For example, cyclophosphamide is used in normal doses to suppress the immune system, and is sometimes helpful for autoimmune conditions like osteoarthritis. However, in low doses, it activates the immune system and is used in cancer therapy. Tricky stuff.
