Hello Everyone! Well I haven't posted here since a year ago when it was 9 years after my w/o Radical w/ was done at Johns Hopkins w/o the new (at the time) Da Vinci method and instead I chose an old school hand job as the debate was raging on which was better!! I'm happy to say I'm still at 0 PSA which is checked every 6mo. I spent a lot of time on this Forum way back when I was new to the game and since I was helped so much here back then, I feel obligated to return yearly to post about myself and my history w/ PC.
Although my cancer has yet to rear it's ugly head again (I thank God everyday!) things haven't been all cookies & cream in my life. about 7~8 years ago I developed hypogonadizm w/ while undiagnosed nearly ruined my marriage and sent me off the deep end! Luckily I was finally diagnosed after 2 & 1/2 years of hell. Then I found that at that time there were no Dr's around that would treat someone w/ a history of PC for low testosterone! It took me months to finally find one who agreed that my quality of life was more important than worrying that my PC would return w/ treatment. I hear that this has changed now!! Now after all these years I'm still getting a shot of testosterone every 3 weeks from my wife to instead of going to my Dr's office to save some $.
As far as the rest of my PC related health. I still wet my bed a couple times a week and get up to pee every hour and a half like clockwork! My Uro doc says my problems stem from my bad lumbar spinal problems and nerve damage and not from anything related to my surgery? I just had a left hip replacement 3 weeks ago which I'd been putting off for at least 10 years! I decided to have it done to help w/ my back pain which is much worse than the hip pain. Hopefully after recouping from this hip problem, my back will not be so bad, at least that's what my Dr's think?
So anyway, I've probably written too much unrelated info and not enough PC related info here so I'll blame it on lack of sleep, too little coffee and pain pills for my hip pain! (After 5 days in the hospital and 11 days in a inpatient rehab facility, I'm still in outpatient therapy 3 times a week for the next month> Ouch!) So if any of You have any questions about me or my history I can help with I'll check back and would be honored to. Bless You All!
Pete
