I am six months out from a successful robotic prostatectomy.  I am a proud member of the Zero Club with my latest PSA at <.01.  Yesterday I went for my six month check-in with my surgeon/uro.  I showed him a slight bulge to the right of my belly button not too far from where incisions were made.  He felt the bump and said it was an incisional hernia.  He said if it wasn't bothering me that I shouldn't be concerned at all about it.  There is no pain and it is hardly noticeable if I'm in a bathing suit.  I just wondered if any of you have had a similar issue and what you were told about it.  Thanks.

Mine is to the left of my navel, not the right. Aside from that you described it well.

My urologist and I talked about getting it fixed -- what it would involve, etc. -- and he said that it wouldn't be a big deal to get it fixed if it started to bother me. I expect I will get mine fixed in the next year or so whether it bothers me or not. The problem with a wait-and-see approach is that with my luck it will go >POP< while I am on traveling (say on a cruise ship) and that will be inconvenient.

Right not it is looking like I might be looking at a sling to improve my incontinence. Maybe I'll do the hernia at the same time.

Mine was above my belly button and was the size of half a golf ball. Lived with it for several years until I bumped it which wasn't fun at all.

Had mine repaired a year before my robotic prostatectomy.

Following my DaVinci procedure, I had an incisional hernia above the navel incision. I was told that there was a chance the hernia could grow, especially if I was physically active.

I had it surgically repaired. The repair was no problem at all. Same day surgery. A mesh was installed to help hold the herniated area together.
