Become a walking, talking billboard to raise PC awareness...... HW Mo Bros support MOVEMBER!!

Here’s a glossary of ‘stache styles, courtesy of the article in today’s Chicago Tribune, titled “ It’s time to occupy the upper lip—Movember mustache campaign raises awareness for men’s health ” 'Stache styles — Chevron: A thick and wide mustache, usually worn long to cover the top border of the upper lip. Horseshoe: A full mustache with vertical extensions grown on the corners of the lips and down the sides of the mouth to the jawline, resembling an upside-down horseshoe. The whiskers grown along the sides of the mouth in the horseshoe are sometimes referred to as "pipes." It's not to be confused with the "Fu Manchu," which is grown long from the upper lip only with the sides remaining shaven. Pencil: A thin, narrow, closely clipped moustache that outlines the upper lip. Pencil style mustaches can be trimmed in different manners. Also sometimes called a "mouthbrow." Pyramid: A general name for mustaches shaped narrow on top and wide on the bottom. Handlebar: Worn large or small ("petit handlebar"), it is characterized by the fact that it is bushy and must be worn long enough to curl the ends upward, which is usually achieved with styling wax. Painter's brush: A thick mustache extending the width of the mouth, usually worn short, with slightly rounded corners. Walrus: A large, bushy, droopy mustache that often covers the mouth entirely. From this, I learned that I previously mistakenly referred to A Yooper’s conglomeration of whiskers a Fu Manchu, when it is actually something more akin to a Horseshoe…or something like that.   You can learn something new every day here at HW/PC! My friend I donated to on the official Movember site posted his pic with his entire beard and stache shaved off today and he looks hilarious. It takes balls for such a radical change, no doubt.

Watching the NY Ranger's game and an in between period interview with Left Wing Carl Hagelin and he said he's trying to grow one for MoVember. Looks like peach fuzz.

Wow!   Several more HW "do-ers" stepping forward over the weekend.   I’ve also had my first several "conversations" about Movember — the first one actually took place last Wednesday ( before Movember even started) at the Cancer “Wall of Hope” re-dedication (discussed in a separate thread).   Remember, becoming a walking, talking billboard for awareness of prostate cancer & men’s health is the fundamental purpose of Movember .   Your “changing face” is merely the catalyst for the conversations/discussions.   I’ll post an update about my own conversation experiences, and more about Movember at my workplace, later on. But first, I’ve got several new pics of more HW “do-ers” to post, below.   Thanks to all those who stepping-up to participate in the HealingWell (HW) Mo Bros Challenge .   Today, I’m adding DonaldJ, grandpaof4 (who tells me he’s never had facial hair before), and adjust (who took his full beard off to start the month).   In addition, my college-aged son has joined us, and my college roommate and best friend from high school shaved off his long-time pencil moustache to support the effort. If you are still “on the fence,” (or if you are one of the guys who said you wanted to participate in October, early in this thread, but haven’t yet) you still have a couple more days to commit to action —commit to being a "do-er ."   New entrants will be accepted through the first week of Movember , until November 7 th .   To have your efforts “officially” counted, you’ll need to provide both a “before” photo of yourself clean-shaven near the beginning of the month, and an “after” photo showing as much of a moustache as you can grow by the end of November.   Both photos should be approximately chin-to-nose and therefore unidentifiable, similar to those already posted.   (I can help with cropping, if you’d like; I have cropped each and every one sent to me so far…either a little or a lot).   In addition we’ve created an “associate official” HW Mo Bro category, and A Yooper has become the first member by making a $50 donation directly to Movember — the first one actually took place last Wednesday (before Movember even started) at the Cancer “Wall of Hope” re-dedication (discussed in a separate thread). I have not shaved my upper lip since graduation day, 1976 and my stache is sad to say the least. I am one of those types of guys who has been blessed with a full head of hair, but not much hair any where else. My eye brows are barely noticeable.
Under such circumstances, I will not be shaving my upper lip. It could and most likely will , take me another 37 years to grow a noticeable stache. Plus I am sure the next one would be much greyer than the current one

COME ON GUYS, get with the program ! LOL ! I cant believe there is only 17 participants here. I have guys at work that are growing facial hair for Movember including my boss and a couple of young guys just barely adults with peach fuzz. LOL ! SPREAD THE WORD !

Supporting MOVEMBER at work! My workplace is having some fun—and raising some money—in support of men’s health as part of Movember .   We are having a ‘Stache Photo Contest.   Participants can submit photos of themselves, either with their own ‘stache, with a “moustache tattoo” which they are handing out, or even other props or a Photoshopped-in moustache…all for fun.   The photos are being hung in the cafeteria.   Anyone who makes a donation gets an opportunity to vote on the best photo entry.   In addition, the company will donate $500 in the contest winner’s name to the men’s charity of their choice. Posters are up all over the place with a handlebar moustache logo promoting the “Post Your ‘Stache” program.   Very cool!    (Last month’s promotion of breast cancer awareness in my workplace was stale in comparison)       Will be spending the weekend in Chi-town starting after lunch today, and largely offline (from HW).   It’s my birthday weekend, so planning a concert at the Chicago Theater tonight, the Blue Chicago club afterwards, and lots of good restaurants before and after.   I’ll be back here after the weekend, and I hope to read here about the experiences others are having with Movember !    

So here's an interesting bit - "Kate Upton: Movember’s Finest Fan" - now there's two obvious points to that statement - no, no, I mean "Kate Upton" and "Movember!"
