Got my latest PSA by e-mail this time.  Was 64.X in April, it is now 83.x

Sonny, was trying to find your recent post about yours, sounds like we are still neck and neck if I remember

That's amazing. I think Sonnys was 82.5....

Actually with that doubling time you could go years without seeing something on scan and having to throw some type of therapy at it...

An, my post stated that it was 64.x in April

Jerry, how do you figure that? It's a miracle that there are not mets already. Doubling time is no longer pertinent in a case like mine, its a question of seeing how long I can afford the appearance of mets. My doc said he has seen a few men with post surgery/radiation failures with a PSA of 100 without mets, but they are the rare cases. In theory, I am well in range of mets. Hoping to buy another 6 months before hitting that 100 mark.

My doctor is working on the theory of multiple micro-mets, that each site having its own growth and doubling time, and collectively add up to this large number.

btw, I was expecting 80, so was right on target. Still trying to buy some time, before things get out of hand, feel my window is narrowing fast.

it is amazing how much our two journeys have mirrored each others, just thankful he didn't have to go through all the pain parts and other setbacks I have, wouldn't want both of us dealing with that. Happy he is doing well, and able to move on with his life as strongly as he does.

Dave, thank you, hope you had a good one too. We sure did, one of the better Thanksgiving's I can remember.

Rob, thanks. Really liking this new team approach that is going on with my case, more eyes- more brain power - more chances of finding answers, I am hoping.

David, sorry for misreading your first post, it's the problem of responding from a phone instead of a computer.

I am pleased that your PSA is what you expected. It is good it was not any higher. But I know you have many more things going on with your health than your PSA score.

David, you are and inspiration to me and so many of us that visit this site - it's not fair that one person gets more than their share of medical problems - what is inspirational is your careful thinking of what is important to you and living your life so clearly on those principles.

thank you An. It's what I expected, I just see the simple logic in what is happening to me, but its not to be interpreted as this is what I wanted. I simply accept the reality that is before me.

got a letter from my oncologist today, and in it, he mentions first time openly, that its only a question of time to either consider HT or Chemo, if there is any hopes of delaying the obvious outcome. We will probably talk about this on my next visit, Wednesday, after I get the results of the special MRI tests on Tuesday. we have known all along, that we were buying time without further reducing my low quality of life, but also knew that the day would come, that tough decisions to treat, or not to treat would be before me. With readings this high, its obvious that day is sooner than further away at this point.
