Some of you get confused by Logo's post. I have in the past, but have since learned much about him by his writing style and content.

Keep in mind that he is in Hawaii, where locals keep things simple.

For example, The Hawaiian alphabet has only 12 letters; five vowels and seven consonants. Eight if you include the glottal stop (called ʻokina in Hawaiian).

However, Hawaii's state fish is called the " humuhumunukunukuapua'a."
On the Mainland, we call it a "trigger fish."

How's that for simplicity? :)

Nice explanation Big Mac, I am on the Island of Maui and the n shore breaks are , Hookipa, Jaws,Not Kahana { not Kahana, theres west side and decent but not much anytime. South side The whole stretch fro Charly youngs beach thru the cove, kalama park and others . the winter is big on the north shore, the summer is big on the south shore. this is due to winter in the south of hawaii is in the summer. N shore sucks summer., be cause the summer produce few storms to the north., hence small surf, then. love your little guy by Your tag

I nt he post I gave phonetic pronunciation Hao'oli Makakiki ho. Now you will not need phonetics. and when you visit you can practice with the street names. Like Like highway is pronounced phonetically Lee kay lee kay high way, pronouncing , of course highway in the english way as it is in fact english. Till you get you teeth fixed, just smile with your eyes.

Only went to Maui once but didn't surf. I did go to Honolua Bay. It was about head high, a beautiful wave. A great view of the action from the top of the cliff but must be a bear to get down to the water.

Shoulder to head and glassy! Haven't seen it like that in a long time. Perfect size for a longboard. I knee paddle, I am about the only one out that does that anymore.
Been flat here for months. No hurricanes this year. Good reason to take up SUP. I only tried it once and my balance was terrible. Like anything, it takes practice. Need a lot of upper body strength.
You must rip with a 9' SUP.
I looked at Surfline tonight an Pipeline was breaking. I am used to a sandy beach break, that coral is scary stuff.

That's interesting. I bothers the heck out of me. Every minute of every day.

I'm pleased to hear that others react differently. I hope some of my brothers here who are facing long-term HT will have the easy adjustment that you had. Tall Allen assures me that there are some mental calisthenics that I could do to adjust (mindfulness training). But, since my ADT is only for two years I prefer to leave my brain as it is for the moment.
