I was able to have intercourse for a few min at 6 weeks out from radical prostatectomy, I was fine afterwards, went to the movie's got up started walking and I felt some pain right above my penis in the pubic area. I also had walked further the day before then I had so far. I also tossed a basketball from right under the rim for 5min. (First time) I called my surgeon and he said everything is ok. Has anyone had this experience, the discharge note said at 4 weeks I can start working towards my presurgical fitness so I waited 6 weeks to up my walking from 45 min to 1he15min then I got lucky the next day and was able to have some fun with my wife but I stopped after a few min cause I was afraid of hurting something

Your doc may have been optimistic?
I read that you are trying to bring everything back on the same day. I would have been back in the hospital if I had done all that.
Go easy on yourself. You will be still healing for as long as three months.

Glad you were able to perform, per say, but at 6 weeks, that is really pushing the safety window. Your body was just barely healing from a major complex surgery. In theory, you could have damaged yourself greatly in that attempt. Did you do this on your own, or under your surgeon's advice?
I know we are all eager to see if we still "work" down there, but again, you have to think what your body has been through.
How are you doing currently, since this episode?

And I might add, there are no prizes for getting there first, but crapping out after having passed the finish line. This is not a single objective event. Our recoveries are measured by being able to step out toward a new normal.

Pergatory, my surgion said I can experiment after cath removal. I'm pretty sure the pain is from walking to much. My surgion is from John Hopkins he's a great surgion but he does scare me cause it seems whatever I ask him he says it's ok to do. The other confusing thing is I have read story's of guys running three weeks out one guy said he went skiing four weeks out. I have been very careful cause I know a guy who picked up a trash can at four weeks and went back under the knife.

Pergatory I'm feeling way better I walked for 30min twice yesterday and some discomfort came bak that's why I'm pretty sure it's from walking to much, I guess I got ahead of myself because I waited a extra 2 weeks. Beyond discharge orders

@John - I was the guy who went skiing four weeks out. I did it with my doctor's knowledge and permission. And, we had agreed that if anything seemed off or uncomfortable, I would walk away.
I think the high level of fitness that I took into the surgery allowed both my doc and I to feel comfortable with that level of effort. I had promised to ski easier terrain that weekend as well.
On the sex side of things, he told me I could do whatever felt comfortable as soon as the catheter was out.
He gave me Cialis right away and TriMix at four weeks.

Dmivt, I been going to the gym for 35 yrs never missed more then 3 days straight other then a couple surgerys, my body's pretty rattled from motorcycle accident and roofing for 35 yrs but I use the gym for peace of mind and to keep myself going. You must in great shape and I have wondered if I'm waiting to long and letting my body get weaker, everyone says to take it easy. My doc said I could climb a ladder at three weeks. Do you have any pain and were? I think I mentioned earlier I really am not concerned with pain I just don't want to damage anything and I'm willing to wait for better long term results. I haven't done anything consciously that was outside of docs orders but I've been having some discomfort in my pubic area and I am struggling not to go at it, I go to the gym once or twice a day to walk on treadmill and sometimes hit the whirlpool and sauna

Nothing that would count as pain. I have some slight discomfort that that's centered around where the prostate used to be. But, it's gradually getting better and nothing so far is making it worse.
It's also helpful that I can now describe myself as 99% continent. I switched from pads to shields last week and I'm not even sleeping in them anymore. My only issues are if I hold it too long or occasionally when I pass gas and I don't make the effort to focus on the urinary sphincter beforehand.
I'm still being careful in the gym, doing things at 25%-50% of my max lifts - closer to 50 than 25 most of the time. Last night, we did squat snatches every minute on the minute for 15 single reps. I only did 70 pounds despite a best of 145. Then, we moved on the clean and jerks - same pattern for 12 minutes. I maxed out at 90 pounds vs. a best of 195#.
Last week, I did 10x4 deadlifts at 185 pounds. My recent best there is 440. I'm also limiting the number of days in the gym each week. I started at 1 and I'm up to 3 now, but given that this is my first week with 3 days, I'll be super careful about
how much weight I move for this week and next. I'm guessing that by the end of March, 12 weeks out from surgery, I'll start pushing the weights a bit again. Until ski season is over, I think that heavy weights could compromise my skiing, and skiing hard could compromise any heavy lifting. Every Monday and Friday is a rest day, and I'm trying to tread that line between useful activity and staying healthy.
Best of luck.

Tell your surgeon about
your pain (or more accurately, call his office and talk to whoever he has delegated for first-line screening of such questions) and if your surgeon (or his delegate) isn't worried you shouldn't worry either.
Post-op pain with activity is often caused by adhesions. That's when a surgeon cuts through two layers of tissue that usually slide over one another and they stick together as they heal. Once the patient has mostly healed and becomes more active they pull back apart -- a process that hurts a bit. Usually they resolve by themselves. I had a pretty good one with an inguinal hernia repair some years ago. Hurt for about
a week then went away.
From the
location you describe for your pain my guess would be it is related to the incision near your navel. That's a fairly common place to get post-prostectomy hernias. Worth keeping an eye on.
