Hi guys. The email address in my profile was hacked and somebody is using it to distribute spam. I am hence changing it. For those of you who email me on a regular basis please note the change. Todd

If it was someone who has plans for more than a quick use, they often change the password so that even the original owner can't get back it to fix things.

Some of the tricks are intended to get to an ISP that is generally trusted by hackers in a part of the world where all ISPs are at risk/blocked by most US services.

Changing your password whenever something sketchy happens is always a good idea. But don't be surprised if that doesn't fix the problem. Often when your friends start reporting that they are getting spam from you the problem has noting to do with you or your computer or your mail server or your ISP. It often means that one of your friends' machines was infected with a worm and it found your information either in your friend's address book or in an email (from you) that was saved on your friend's machine. The worm then starts sending out email that 'spoofs' your return address and originating server. When it arrives it looks like it came from you but neither you, nor any machine in your link to the Internet, sent it.

Yahoo locked me out and said it was due to suspicious activity. It was an old email address anyway. I been using the comcast email for a while now and the yahoo address was only for healing well

yahoo and AOL are notorious for being hacked.

At my office we refer to yahoo email as, "that spam generator"

Best to be rid of that.
