Taking a second look at my recent biopsy report I was a bit curious as to how concern I should be to the descript
ion of several of my core samples.
Right Base Lateral:
-Benign prostatic tissue with focal atrophy
-No high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia or malignancy identified
Right Base (this was positive on the first Bx - G6) but now listed as
-Benign prostatic tissue with focal atrophy
-No high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia or malignancy identified
Right Mid Lateral
-Benign prostatic tissue with focal atrophy
-No high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia or malignancy identified
Right Mid
-Benign prostatic tissue with focal atrophy
-No high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia or malignancy identified
Right Apex Lateral
-High grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN II)
There are three others (Left Mid, Left Apex Lateral, Left Apex) that are listed as
-Benign prostatic tissue with focal atrophy
-No high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia or malignancy identified
Also, a repeat Bx of the known cancer spot, Right Base, was also described as
Benign prostatic tissue with focal chronic inflammation
How did they determine that there was chronic inflammation?
There seem to be a lot of
-Benign prostatic tissue with focal atrophy
-No high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia or malignancy identified
I guess the focal atrophy is what looks like cancer but is not cancer?
My uro seems not to be worried and say to continue with AS (since August 2012)
That was my second Bx, 1 out 15 samples = G6 (Left Apex - same spot as the first Bx). Three repeat of known cancer spots - twelve random samples.
The first Bx in August of 2012 = 3 out of 14 = G6, Right Base, Right Mid Base, Left Apex.
