I haven't been checking in here much lately as I am suffering from a very bad case of home remodeling. Today is the first day in about a week that there's been power in my home office and the first day I've been able to move my desk to a place where I can use the computer.

In my efforts to blame all my problems on PC, I've decided that wanting my home remodeled and repaired (new roof, electrical rewire, new kitchen, upgrades to the shop, etc) is really based in my experience with have PC and the realization that life is too short not to get what I really want.

Life is meant to be enjoyed. My upgraded home will be a joy. The trip to get there won't be fun.

Kind of like getting treatment - the trip was no fun, but I am here alive and able to enjoy life.

Well said.. Been through self home improvement and it's very rewarding. Glad you got started, that's the hardest part.

I did the same thing a several years after I had PC. I will tell you I never thought I would enjoy the remodel after going through so much pain with the contractors but it was definitely worth it.

Done it and doing it. In the middle of a kitchen remodel and it has been one problem after another. Supposed to start January 1, but got delayed to March 1. Supposed to be a 3-4 week job and is now ending at week 8 with no end in sight. Biggest problem has been dealing with the cabinet maker as he has thrown the project way, way behind. The quality of his work is top notch and that is why we chose him, but he has offered excuse after excuse as to why he his behind schedule. Everything from our kitchen has been moved to the living room, dining room and bathroom making life pretty miserable. The one bright spot is that it takes my mind off my PC battle...until I think about it. Testing time is three weeks away. Don't know which makes my blood pressure sky rocket more...the remodel or worrying about the PSA result.

This condition is contagious. In the last 12 months we have redone the landscaping, rebuilt two decks, added a room, refaced the kitchen cabinets, replaced all the appliances, remodeled the master bedroom and bath......and now my dear wife is looking at the 1,800 square feet of basement and has the contractor's number memorized.

I will probably have to buy a boat to stop this!

I completely agree with you 100%

My wife and I have taken that thought to our lives as well lately. After years of scrimping and saving and raising 3 kids, we are now thinking about ourselves first for once. And getting a few things we each and both had really wanted for years. My wife will retire in a little over 3 years, so we are buying what we need and want, so that on her retirement day, we will have all that we wanted, and still be debt free.

Enjoy yourself, I know its a lot of work on your end, but you happen to enjoy doing it, so that's an added bonus.

The plumbing change I had done 3 years ago changed my life.

This PC thing got my wife and me to rethink our priorities as well. After seeing my dad die at what I think of as a young age now (68) and scrimping and saving his entire life and unable to enjoy his retirement years due to illness and early death and not knowing what tomorrow will bring we are "splurging" a bit now. That is why we have been remodeling our house, something that has been needed for 20 years. That is why we don't dream about a trip, we take it now. Even if it is just a weekend getaway.
Jeff, got a chuckle with your post. Not only is my personal plumbing rewired, so is our house. The house rewiring and plumbing works just like new....just wish my personal replumbing did the same!

After bx I had my personal plumbing removed and a new right shoulder installed. I also had seven palm trees cut down. Next I'm probably having SRT then traveling down the Danube. Screw this lousy disease!

And here I thought this was on topic -
the term 'modeling' is used for surgery required to correct a bad case of Peyronie's.
InTheShop, glad to hear your 're-modeling' relates to something perhaps a little less challenging to go through.
Or... I could be wrong. I've been through a house remodel and it was hell.

Todd, next time I remodel I am going to send you an airplane ticket and buy you a whole new set of tools if you'll just take care of the mess for me. ;)

Awesome.
I hope you had fun with the remodel. I did a lot of redecorating, shoe shopping and watching HGTV while on hormonal therapy. But now that I'm off HTT not so much on those things and I change channels a lot.

Must be contagious, we this year had the kitchen redone,( glass splash back,new cupboards, rangehood, stove), 5kw Solar system on roof, two RC air conditioners installed (not using wood anymore) and getting the whole inside painted, starting soon.
