Had biopsy yesterday with very little SE other than a few drops of pink pee and some rectal discomfort. Did get a chance to chat with Urologist about
PSAv, PSAd, treatment possibilities, etc. He was very optimistic about
my chances of not having cancer. Of course that would be what I am praying for but want to be ready for the PC news should it arrive. I mentioned the possibility of Brachy Thearpy and he commenced to tell me that, in his opinion, that was the worse possible road to take. "You could be left with permanent bladder problems and a bag"!
I have read quite a bit about
all the treatment options with BT having the quickest recovery time and some of the least SEs.
Oh well, "The Wait".

Yes, the wait is the killer. My doc told me 2 weeks for results and then called me 5 days later with the bad news. Here's hoping you've got nothing to worry about
.
and for the record, your doc has a biased and uninformed opinion of brachy. Lots of men get that and do just fine. His horror pronouncement is extreme.
Let us know the results when the come in.

Waiting is the worst part. Good that you're thinking of a plan in case the news is bad. Good luck to you and hopefully you get "negative" news.

Mr Trout,
If you are sexually active you may have one more side effect left to discover. Your semen will be bright, vampire-movie red for a week, then fade through chololate-syrup browns and mocha late tans, finally returning to normal after about
six weeks.
Your doctor may have been a bit negative when talking about
brachytherapy. But hopefully you will get a good result from your biopsy and the question will be moot.

What Peter said! Be aware of the ever changing bloody semen.
Good luck and I hope you are just visiting us.

Brown trout,
I'm fishing for you this weekend, but don't worry, I'll release you unharmed.
Never take advice from a urologist on Brachy. Many on this board have been misled about
brachy from doctors that have little experience with the procedure. Brachy is not only effective, but has the best quality of life issues than surgical options as indicated by the many studies of post treatment issues.

Time to replace your physician.Try to find one that has your health as their primary interest

Peter D. or anyone else with experience/knowledge?
First, thank you all for your wisdom and genuine concern. I feel very fortunate to have few SEs after biopsy. Especially after reading about
others who were less fortunate on this forum. I sincerely hope their side effects clear up in time.
Strange question, perhaps? Should one relieve themselves of this odd tainted semen?

Hey, Browntrout....hope you get good news and get to sail off into the sunset w/o need for HW. However, if you do get some bad news then we are here for you. When you get the results please post them in detail. If you are eligible, then brachy could be an excellent choice...as could some others. Like several other posters have hinted, it sure sounds like your doc is either ignorant, biased or both. What we all need at the critical moments of diagnosis is calm and good judgement...not scare tactics and misinformation. Ok..off the soapbox for now...hoping for your good news but, if not, we will be glad to help.

I dunno about
"
should
" but I think most of us
do
. There's no compelling medical reason, I suppose.

I strongly urged my husband to "practice" a lot to clear up the motor oil-like semen! It took about
a month to clear up. It didn't bother me as much as it did him!
Now, of course, there is no semen at all when he orgasms. I kinda miss it. Just kinda :).
