Avodart -- no generic???

I thought there was a generic, but two local pharmacies say no.

The closest to it would be finasteride generic Proscar. Avodart is too new.

Actually, they mentioned there was supposed to be a generic recently. But the company filed some lawsuit that will delay matters until 2015.

Avodart is newer and better than Proscar, but it is still under patent. Thus no generic yet. I take Jalyn (Avodart and Flomax). My uro says saving a few bucks on Proscar is foolish.

I used finasteride when my med plan stopped paying for avodart. I don't know that there is any difference but just be aware that it reduces your true PSA by half when monitoring progression!!!
