I'm starting to contemplate getting an implant in the future. I have a specific question (below).

[ Background: I'm now 14 months after nerve-sparing surgery. My ED recovery is stalled. I get 4/10 naturally, 6/10 with pills and 10/10 with bimix. That's the same outcome I've been getting for many months. I will not spend the rest of my life doing injections. I also have Peyronie's, which caused me to lose some erect size and caused a slight deformation. ]

An implant would solve my ED and would also solve the Peyronie's. So, if the ED persists I am certainly going to give strong consideration to an implant.

However, I am very active/athletic. I do aggressive cardio and weighlifting 4+ days per week. Spinning (high intensity bike riding) is my most frequent workout. Would I have to eliminate certain workouts if I have an implant?

Someone posted on HW recently that they bounced around on the seat of a riding mower, and the bouncing compressed the implant inflator and they got an unintended erection. I suspect the exact same outcome from intense bike riding, since the seat presses firmly on the testicle area and there is lots of up/down and bouncing on the seat.

Yes, I know it's too early to think seriously about implants. Yes, I know lots of guys get their mojo back in the 18-24 month area. Even so, it's a topic on my mind and it would help to me wrap my head around the idea if I had a better understanding of the implications for my workout regimen.

I was the rider mower guy, and that was mostly a "for fun" post. It was a chubby at best. I had a hard time (no pun intended) with the surgery and recovery, and dealing with the new guest in my scrotum, but every day gets better, and the darn thing works whenever I want it too. I spent a lot of time looking around when I was making the decision to get an implant, and it is hard to find someone who isn't happy they did it. I am not 100% happy about it, and it is a irrevocable decision, but I would have to say I am also part of the "glad I did it crowd".

And it keeps the darned lawn mowed :)

Since I had an AUS installed in the same area that the implant goes, my wife ordered me something called a "Nutty Buddy"! It is like a athletic supporter made of hard plastic. See the videos on youtube.

A guy has a baseball thrown at his "Wille and PoBoys" with no damage done. I don't know if that would help you to protect against "premature lift off" but I will be trying my "Nutty Buddy" out when I begin riding a bicycle soon. I have my AUS activated this Thursday morning.

Good luck with your decision. Sounds like a plan, the possible SE of trimix scares me too much to try it. Having been incontinent for 22 months makes me not want to switch one SE for another.

Spontaneous inflation is far from a real concern. The first pump is a definite "pop", and it takes some serious luck to hit it by accident. I would not let that be a factor in your decision. I got lucky through excessive speed and the fact that I live way out in the country and it was a very bumpy pasture. But it made me laugh, and I hoped that the folks at HW would appreciate it, and get a chuckle, and I can't really tell that story to anybody I know, so I shared it. The last thing I was hoping for was for it to produce anxiety in someone walking this unfortunate path.

I hope this is not off subject for this thread...if it is let me know..

Can one of you who's experienced with implants give just a brief on the procedure ?? I am  16 months out from surgery, and still nothing natural..so I'm curious.

search this site - there are a number of helpful threads. For me it was surgery followed by a few weeks of discomfort, severe at first. Scrotal swelling was definitely an issue. I did not have any of that after the RRP, but it kept me up at night after the implant. Keep in mind that I don't like taking drugs that don't come in a bottle or can, so I wasn't taking narcotics. Every day was a little better. After a month it was "activated" and now it works whenever I want it to. In my case the action figure is 20% less of a superhero than it was, but I am unable to say how much of that was the RRP and how much was the implant. My doctor did acknowledge that both of those procedures would have an effect. I had it done last December, it is only recently that I have joined the vast majority of implant patients that are glad they did it. Pumping/deflating is not painful. I would give it a 1.5 on a scale from 1-10. Even now I feel some discomfort when I try to max it out, but if I am taking it for a pleasure ride, I don't try for the max. I should probably do the max pump every day, but I don't, so that is probably my fault too. It is 100% reliable. For a recovering prostate surgery patient, you just plain can't beat that. I was on tri-mix and when it worked, mr wiggly was starting to look more and more like a comma. Post-implant, I am straight as an arrow. well, a dart anyway.
