Dr. Patrick Walsh's Guide to Surviving Prostate cancer has a very good explanation of positive margins and why they're often not a big deal.
www.amazon.com/Patrick-Walshs-Surviving-Prostate-Cancer/dp/1455504181#Often the very act of surgery kills those cancer cells at the margin, since the trauma to the tissue interrupts blood flow to the immediate area. Walsh likens it to the dead grass that surrounds a tree that's been hit by lightning.
If it makes you feel any better, My positive margins and I are still hanging in there 3.5 years after surgery. My urologist wasn't particularly concerned either, so maybe that's a good attitude to take on.
Best,
Jonathan
