Paul,
As I said later in the presentation to Dr. Lawenda we certainly don't know what effect these things have on prostate cancer. But we do know that a healthy lifestyle with good stress reduction and exercise will help us with what's more likely to kill us anyway. Dean Ornish, Andrew Weil, Donald Abrams, Mark Moyad would all agree with this. But I am not sure why being healthier would be less fun and more expensive. In fact I believe that the opposite is true.
I recently lost 25 pounds (since March) and the only "unfun" part of it for me was paying for a new wardrobe. I feel terrific and my body feels better in all ways. But to be fair, it was not entirely in the way Dr. Lawenda's presentation indicates is best to do it but I did it.
Still, there is data out there that has been proven. Less stress for example is shown to lower blood pressure and improve sleep in trials. Obesity has been proven at all levels to cause many health issues and slow healing to treatment. All physicians will acknowledge this. When we are less healthy treatment tolerances are lower. This is acknowledged by pretty much most doctors. Even at SWOG where we do clinical trials there is a consensus about
this.
As far as hypoglycemic indexes and science, at the end of the presentation Dr. Lawenda's contact information is available. If you want send him an email on it. Or go to my website and post in the presentation thread and I'll have him address your concerns. He is on our medical panel for the site.
