My husband is on triple blockade hormone therapy...2nd round of intermittent treatment. During the first round, after 6 months, his PSA was down to .05 and kept going down consistently until it hit <.02, which is bottomed out with the capabilities of this lab.
After being in an "off cycle" from about May 2012 to November 2013, he went back on. This time around, it took 7 months to get to .05 (one month longer than the last), but now, after 8 months on hormone therapy, he's just got back another result of .05. I'm hoping that, perhaps, next month, it will be down to .04 and that it's just come down to a snail's pace. (This thought comes from the hope that perhaps it was .054 and came down to .050). Although I'm hopeful, I'm also, unfortunately, doubtful. I think we've reached our new nadir and this isn't a good sign.
I told my husband to restart all of the nutritional supplements that were prescribed by Dr. Myers to see if, perhaps, it will force it down some more. However, the reason he went off in the first place was because it seemed the only result he was getting from them was lighter in the pocket. He even stopped the Metphormin prescribed by Dr. Myers after he didn't see any results from it and he started getting some physical issues which he feared may have been caused by that drug. In hindsight, I don't think Metphormin was the cause.
Anyway, my question is whether any of you out there have heard of a stand still in PSA while on hormone therapy followed by any additional increase in PSA. I just wonder if that is possible or likely.
Thanks.
Rhonda
