Mr. Kukukajoo Needs Prayer and Support

Paul was taken into surgery at 7:00 am this morning with very serious life threatening issues stemming from the intestinal blockage and the surgery of two weeks ago. I got to the hospital at about 8:00 to be with Kristi. The surgeon spoke with Kristi at about 12:30 as they were finishing the surgery to send him to recovery. Surgery was long and complex, but the surgeon seemed positive, but guarded about his condition. He will be in ICU probably for several days and the next 48 hours is critical.

Please channel support for them and I will do what I can to provide updated information.

I am praying for Paul, I know that there is power in prayer. I claim it ahead of time that he will be rid of the intestinal issue and back to where he was before, and even better than fefore. Paul, know that many, many Brothers are with you. Take care...and Keep the Faith...Dan K.

I'm also thankful that you are in a position to give a hand in person. Being alone in a new city is tough for anyone, but with a partner in the hospital, it can be overpowering.

Thanks to all of you for your support. I just had a message from Kristi that Paul is stable, but critical. He is on a ventilator which he is tolerating and pain is under control.

So Sorry to hear about his news. I will be sending well wishes his way.

I traded messages with Paul this morning. He is awake, alert, and cracking some jokes....all good signs. He remains in a lot of pain still in ICU. Hopefully he is on the road to recovery.

Just tried to post a detailed update and pc booted me from this site-uggghh!

Thank the lord for JNF who was my rock when Paul was in surgery. I am doing the best I can but this is really the hardest thing I have been through and I can't even begin to imagine how this is affecting Paul. He is such a fighter but even his systems are taking a toll.

He is on a surgical floor now since dinnertime but has oxygen was really low and he started to get edema on feet and ankles. He has been going in and out of afib and having PACs so now they have him on a telemetry monitor. ICU is up there and going to watch it for a bit then make decisions. He may be trucked back down there.... I am worried about congestive heart failure as his lungs are pretty wet too. I should get a call soon on this...

I left the hospital so he would sleep better as if I was there we would talk half the night and be awake every couple hrs at the very least and he needs to sleep to get energy, which BTW he is getting TPN now- food through his veins! First time since all this other than the burger he ate on Sunday just before discharge.

Final word on what sent him back was he had a blockage again (or still, not sure which one), he had another area that was necrotic or two that were looped around and swelling caused this I think, a bowel perforation just above the initial repair. THen another piece had to be resected too once they looked it over. So they took down all the other adhesions as well and say that after it had very good blood flow so that is a good sign.

His wound started to seep, which would have been somewhat normal considering the fluid that collected in his abdominal cavity but Monday evening I looked on a hunch and it changed from clearish pink to green... Progressed from there and then started to eat away at scab and start to undo all the healing process and the wound just became a little fountain of green goo. Started calling him the Sta-Puff Spinach man!! So he got about 24 hours at home, maybe a little more.... Poor man.

Already trying to arrange a hospital bed for when he gets home this time.

I keep reading this thread for strength. Every time we think it's going well the sky falls on us. Paul is retaining fluids and Cray just confirmed another blockage. He has the NG tube back in and resting well thanks to a good dose of ativan.

His H&H started to rise today but so did his white count. Wound began draining so was opened up in 2 places and they sent 2 cultures to the lab.

Lasix is helping already with his edema but he's tired, frustrated and depressed. Been here last 2 night's as he apparently does better with me here. Just trying to jeep him positive and strong enough to fight this.

I see others are having a bad time too and wonder if it's to blame on sunspots or something! !
