If you went the HDR route, did they say how long you'd be on HT? If it was a short course to help shrink the prostate to get started, I really don't think that would be all that bad. I did 18 months, which is shorter than many here, and I'd have to admit it was sure getting tiresome after a while. But if it's 6 months or less for you, I think you'd be able to power through that...

Hi Michael. No, they didn't, but I should imagine it would be about six months, because he said he could not do HDR until later in the year of 2015. So I should imagine that is because of the HT. Another reason that I am considering the HDR Mono Trials, because they don't involve HT. I just don't know which way to go now. LDR with seeds, or the HDR Mono Trials.

Most of the family is out Malvern way (one brother use to live in Stafford-On-Avon) and mostly have to drive in to Worcester for most procedures and to see the specialists - the clinic near them doesn't do much. I'll take your word on them getting better service, and if that's better - I really feel for you.

Andrew. I don't know Malvern that well, but Worcester and Stratford-On-Avon are very nice places to visit and explore. Lots of history in Stratford-On-Avon of course, because of its connection with Shakespeare.

@ JNF. Thanks for your reply. As you can now see, all options are now back on the table.

@ Tudpock. As you can see, things have now changed. LDR is now back on the table, but now I am wondering if I should go the HDR route, or even the third option of the HDR mono trials. Is there any reason you chose LDR against HDR?

@ Purgatory. Thanks for your reply, but thankfully it looks like my rise was just a case of a bad day at the lab. Or maybe they dropped the result paper and the 19 was an upside down 6.1

@ Casper319. Hey bro. Well as you can see, my concerns regarding my PSA spike have now been resolved.

@ PeterDisAbelard. Thanks very much. I thought it would now be any easy choice for me with LDR back on the table, but the extra option of the HDR mono trials has now got me very confused on what direction to go. I was hoping to get some feed back on that here, but it looks like nobody knows about them.

Casper, in answer to your question - at the time I made my decision, HDR was not as widely accepted and there was not a lot of data that I could find. If I was deciding today, I'm sure that HDR would be high on my list. I'm not sure I would have chosen it over LDR, but it would have been a close call. I also would be looking closely at SBRT today.

Re the trial, it is probably fine. But, my personal inclination would not be to do it. If I was facing aggressive PC and looking for answers a trial might be for me. But with early stage curable PC I'm personally more likely to let someone else get the experimentation. Not that there is anything wrong with trials, but I am looking for a little more certainty.

Thanks for that Jim. Considering my stats, it looks like I may go with the LDR. I don't think my hospital do SBRT, only EBRT over a seven and a half week period. I honestly do not want to do that.
