Visit with RO - now officially confused

I had a surgeon tell me if I had it removed, via his robot, we'd know the true pathology as opposed to having to wait two years. I just didn't see any bonus to that and he couldn't tell me one either. I can't see any medical value in knowing the true pathology. I suppose it can provide a psychological value but, like Tupdock18, seems a bit of "so what". He tried to tell me with surgery radiation was always a back-up but could not tell me if radiation alone would have dealt with the cancer.

Prato it is a tough decision. I went back and forth for a few months worrying which one was right. Cancer sucks all the way around.

Peter, those adjectives may well have some level of qualification to the statements - but those statements IMHO are still painting a clear path at the same time - so I wanted to 'qualify' that.

Sure, "if this" - "then that" but simply using "if" doesn't mean a picture / position isn't being made.

I had a pleasant dinner and a nice chat with Prato earlier this week. He is less angsty in real life than you might imagine from his online persona. I'm pretty sure we know a lot more about his internal dialog than does his prospective surgeon.

Question is did he pick up the tab? You know how tight those financial guys can be

I met with the RO LDR brachy folks and there was some concern with my PSA of ~ 10 so it may not be for me. On the plus side I have low biopsy tumor mass. (which I was reminded of may mean nothing) so how the fire-truck so you decide what to do?

That is strange. My guy told me that the cut off point for LDR brachy was a PSA of 15.

Yes - it was a concern not something that would prevent treatment. (at PSA 15)

He actually seemed to lean toward the surgery and they had no affiliation. Maybe it was just me leaning that way.

@Graytech re your question - how do I decide - great question, not sure if I have a logical answer.
It seems to me, from all I've learned so far, that assuming the MRI confirms nothing sinister, I have a 95-98% chance for a one and done cure, either with Surgery, or LDR. AND CLEARLY, surgery is more trauma to the body.

So logically, maybe LDR Brachy is a good choice.
On the other hand I believe, and this is just me, may not be you, that the psychological impact of treatment will be affected by the treatment itself, and I just don't know if I can handle the slow drop in PSA ALONG WITH POTENTIAL PSA bounce, that comes with Brachy.
I'm an aggressive person by nature, and that's why I'm leaning towards surgery, pending MRI results and further consultation with both the surgeon and RO

You ain't shaming me with that laugh, Prato. But thanks for revealing who you are. I suspected so , but you had me convinced otherwise for a bit. Like I say I respond to what is being communicated, not phony attempts at humor. Reminder to self… keep your on the ball.
