can Zytiga work twice? or can xtandi work after zytiga?

Can Zytiga work several times? I also know that Xtandi can work after Zytiga, but why is it that the doctors wanna wait as long as possible after Zytiga treatment before they start xtandi because of possible cross resistance? Is it less chance for cross resistance the longer you wait?

Not sure smurf...but from my own experiences I don't believe Xtandi worked that good after Zytiga.....Zytiga did great and put my PSA below 1 for a little over a year....after 3 small increases I switched to Xtandi and it did keep it stable for 3 months but then went up again and has continued for 3 months.

Lookes like chemo will be my next try....Ive heard and read that Xtandi doesn't work too good after Zytiga and all I can say id for me it delayed my cancer for approximately 3-4 months.....not exactly what I was hoping for.

Theres another forum member who posted about a trial using both concurrently....something Im gonna ask my Dr. on the next visit.

Casper, Don has similar figures to you. Smurf, Dr. Myers said he felt it might be the prednisone that impacted the success of enzalutamide following abiraterone and maybe it needs a wash before starting. That was just an intelligent guess though. If you have the AR-V7 variant then the ligand for both would be missing, meaning not much success following abi with enza or vice versa. We are actually considering docetaxel, but only lightly (baby steps) if the enza doesn't work effectively.

Hi Lisa, "Considering" is the operative word and, like you, only two cycles, preferably some lower dose regimen. I was just speaking with Dr. Strum. Dr. Myers would prefer Don on it (although he says as an alternative, Xofigo/ra 223) and I was mentioning something else to Dr. Strum when he said he would have had Don on it right away after dX. Don isn't on board (yet) and I'm just trying to come to terms with it. It's a tough one, isn't it? I have no faith in the cancer industry around these parts and will have nothing to do with the cancer agency, so this, if it happens, will be with our local oncologist who is not at all high on it. We have had some fascinating discussions about this. Dr. Strum said docetaxel with carboplatin, Dexa and Kytril for nausea. Oh, and to put the Ra-223 off for now and just take Xgeva.

Updated: Chemo is not going to happen for us.

If he has had a good response to Zytiga, then the variant is highly unlikely, Smurf.
