Jim,
Anxiety is normal but it can get out of hand. An indicator for me is when I find that I ruminate over the same stuff.
One of the techniques I learned years ago to deal with my Anxiety is Vipassana Mediation (or Insight Meditation). This is not to say that you should do it as well; but it has helped me during periods when my mind was in a tight spin. (Google Vipassana)
The other Meditative Technique I learned is Mindfulness -- that is, when you eat an orange you engage all your senses (taste, smell, hearing, touch etc) in the eating process. Its an attempt to be "present", because many a time we do things and our minds are elsewhere, mostly with the thing that worries us. To illustrate, as you are reading this, some part of your body is in contact with something, for example, your feet in your shoes; or if you seated whilst reading this, your bottom on a chair. Now that Ive mentioned it, suddenly you "feel" your feet on the ground, or the chair pressing in on your bottom...
Take care ...
