Can anyone report SRT success after Post RP BCR
with PSA > 0.2 ?? Prefer to hear about those with
SRT and no HT but want to hear about SRT + HT results too.

Hi Pablocito,

I'm not sure what your definition of "success" is, but thought I would share my hubby's stats as of last week. All the details are in the signature below, but the short story is that today, 5 years after RALP with BCR of .3 within 6 months, SRT and 1 1/2 years of HT, his PSA has been undetectable ever since. His uro even used the word "CURED" at his visit last week - however we aren't quite comfortable letting our guard down yet, if ever!

You kind of have me wondering the same thing. I have been told it could take up to two years to know if SRT was successful. But was wondering at what point is it considered successful (meaning cured or in remission)? I have heard some report, Purgatory is an example, of failure within six months I believe he said. So can a person know of success within six months for example and how is it determined?

My post-RP PSA got up to 0.7 the day before I started SRT.
I did not have HT.

So far, so good. Next month is time for my annual PSA, and that will be exactly 8 years since I initiated SRT. PSA was 0.2 at my first check after SRT, but less than 0.1 afterwards.

My PSA doubling time after surgery was less than 3 months, so it was on the march.

I had had SRT when my PSA hit 0.4 -- actually it was 0.44 by the time the treatments began. I had HT of sorts -- three months on Casodex 50mg daily from a week or so before SRT started through a couple of weeks after the last treatment. As HT goes, this had minimal SE's though I can't vouch for whether is as effective as Lupron for 6 - 18 months that is more typical for others who have HT along with SRT.

So far I can claim successful treatment. As of today I'm about four months short of 5 years since completion of SRT. My PSA has been 0.00 until October when it read 0.02. Could be nothing, but I'll know more after my next test in late January.
