Good Luck Prat! went through this myself back in mid-August, and am doing good. Urinary continence was achieved right out of gate, ED is still ED, but had that problem before RP.
The PC diagnosis rocks you a little and changes your outlook somewhat, but I am getting over that, as I continue to get used to me "new normal". Will be looking forward to your updates!

Are you out walking the halls. I recall it was quite drafty in the halls until someone told me I had my hospital gown
open in the back.

Welcome to the other side Pratoman!
Now get out of that bed and do some walking, no chasing the nurses around the nurses station.
Oh, there was one thing I forgot to tell you, oh, never mind now.
Too late I guess. :)

Pratoman,
Hope all is well.... Hope your out walking the halls chasing the nurses. (Got to have some encouragement to get walking! No matter what Big Mac says!)
I found it harder to really wake up after surgery. I didn't sleep the night before so I went to sleep before I even made it all of the way down to the surgery doors!
Take those stool softeners every time they offer you one! Those are your best friends along with the pain med.
Next thing is GAS - so expect to be a little uncomfortable. The first BM is also something you will not forget for a few weeks. If I didn't say it before, those stool softeners are your BEST friend!
Here you in a few...

Tried to post last night, apparently the site was down.
Haven't talked to Dr yet, he should be here soon. He spoke to my wife while I was under and he was waiting to get the frozen sections to see if he needed to cut more. But he told her that he was able to leave all the nerves intact. So I guess that's a good sigh
As it turns out I was the third surgery yesterday, which sucked I didn't get to the room till 5. I was pretty incoherent in recovery and the bladder spasms were bad, till they gave me something.
They've been loading me up with Colace, bladder spasm Meds, and this morning I threw in the towel and agreed to take Percocet.
The gas pains were reall bad, and it was hard for me to move, so the Percocet didn't alleviate it but it made it a little easier. So I walked 13 laps around the wing today in 3 different sets at 5am, 7am and 10 am
Honestly I was thinking early this morning that if I knew how bad the gas pains would be, I might have done
open.
Whoa, as I'm writing this I just got a rumbling in my stomach, Aams gas in my chest suddenly got a but better,
And again, HW to the rescue, because dr never mentioned gas pains and if I didn't know about
it from HW I would have though I was having a heart attack.
Anyway, hoping surgeon shows up soon and tells me looks like negative margins from frozen section

Welcome back Prato! Sounds like all in all things went well and as planned - especially good news about
leaving all of the nerves intact. Continued best as you now move forward; I'll step aside and let the surgery guys take over with what you should be doing next!
Onward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to see on the other side Prato. The worse is over, keep walking but don't over do it, listen to your body. Things will steadily improve, nice to hear the nerves were spared.
Cheers, Doug

Great news on the nerves, the bladder spasm Meds really help with that discomfort. The gas pain should subside soon. The advice to listen to your body is key. Sure walk around but don't over do it.
Drink lots of water and take the stool softeners

Doc just came in. They had some positive margin at the apex so they cut just a little but more and got negative margin. He explained that frozen section is not definitive, but 96% if the frozen section is clean that the final path will be too.
Wing for his associate yo come in and check the drain. If there is a lot of blood they'll leave it in and send me home with it,then take it out when I go see them nex week.
Catheter will be in for 9 days. Ugh.
I gave the Catheter a name. Tiffany. I can dream, I've still got the nerve bundles.

Woohoo, so glad to see you are doing well after your surgery!! Fingers crossed you get to come home today. Did you have the green urine? Our 6 year old named Bob's cath bag, he named it Puddles. I think I like Tiffany better. You and Tiffany will become very close friends for the next several days.

Pratoman,
It's good to read that you are successfully through surgery and are on the road to recovery. Improvements will come rapidly from this point on. Take care, hang in there and keep in touch.

Good News Prato, welcome to the other side! My biggest problem coming out of surgery was the gas as well, and the constipation for a couple days. The Percocet ended up making things worse, gas and otherwise; they ended up giving me some thing called "Torridal" or something like that. It's given through the IV (maybe a shot as well), but not as a pill. Anyway, it's a pain killer but does not clog you up. Once I switched to that my gas started working through my system. I had my catheter in for 5 days; that's all. When they pulled it, it was so quick I didn't have time to react - over and done in a sec. Funny thing though, I was getting used to it - not having to get up and hit the head when I was watching the TV was real convenient.
Anyway - best of luck, will be following your posts!

Miki, no green urine. Alternates between normal yellow and pink.
Looks like 90% chance I get out if here tonight .
Moving REEEAAALLL slow, because of the gas. I don't expect a BM for a few days, but I'd sure give just about
anything for a good healthy fart. Without the gas pains this wouldn't be too hard at all.
