Hope I'm not being repetitive, Casper. I tried to say this before: isn't it great that you can laugh about this now. In a few months, pc will be a distant memory. You made a great choice. For the love of God, I can't imagine why more guys don't frickin' make the same one.
Gop. I always like to look at the brighter side of life. I found that hard to do before my treatment because I was very worried about
side effects. Now I am out the other side with no apparent SEs I feel that I can smile again. Although I am prepared for side effects in the future if I have been reading correctly. I have said this many times before, it has never been the cancer that has bothered me, but the gifts that one can get through treatment.
I have to agree with you on treatment choice though. After reading about
so many guys having problems after surgery it does make me wonder why more don't opt for LDR. But then you also have to appreciate that LDR may not of been an option for some. What there PSA was. The size of there prostate. I know that both of these can be a determining factor. Of course there could also be the fact that LDR is not even available to some guys.
I also read about
a lot of guys having to have salvage treatment after surgery because of positive margins that were missed at the time. The prostate bed appears to be the most common in that respect. The comforting thing about
LDR is that it can radiate 3mm outside the prostate capsule, so if there was a slight positive margin at the time of treatment that could get zapped also. In my case this could be a possibility for the right side of my prostate. Time will tell.
With the above said, I think we should remember that PC treatment choice is a very personal thing and chosen for indavidual personal reasons. What one guy may be comfortable with may not work for the next. Therefore we must respect everybody and the choices they make. That is one thing this forum is very good at.
