I was thinking how to ask this semi PC and then remembered where I was, I'll get to the point
I had RALP in Nov 2013 and still deal with some leakage and ED, both are nearly resolved now which is good. 3 nights ago wife and I are fooling around and I had a WICKED GOOD orgasm, strong and long but now I hurt where my prostate was. The next day it was pretty sore and now its getting a little better. Anyone else experience this?
It feels similar to after RALP when I needed to sit on a dounut but not nearly as bad. That pain lasted for a few months.
No other symptoms
Ideas?

I often wondered if having my testicles removed would leave me with some phantom pain. You know, like an amputee feeling pain in an amputated limb. Well I haven't, but I guess you never know do Ya?
Cheers, Doug

interesting. Not heard of that.
but, maybe you should repeat the experiment - just to verify the same result...
Maybe it's due to the normal muscle contractions that happen at the moment - without a prostate it's pressing on other structures and squeezing the heck out of something. Maybe they'll get stronger if you keep, um, 'exercising.'
sorry for not being that serious...

: )
Actually complaining, the pain was very similar to just a week post RALP and that surprised me. I guess the good part is that early in recovery, orgasm quality was meh at best and is now getting better.

All I can say is Good for You! Most of the guys here including me don't get to be so lucky. Count your blessings and well, the pain, an unfortunate side effect of a pretty darn good experience!

I suspect Andrew is in the right ballpark on the cause. Consider that the nerves that used to run alongside the prostate are now just 'out there' by themselves, I'd suspect they may have some sensitivity to things happening in their neighborhood. This would be an interesting question to ask your dr on your next visit.
Pain and all, I think you're in a club I hope to be a part of in the future...

I had a similar sensation the first time. It gets progressively better and by the third or 4th time there was no pain.

Just want to remind everyone:
Sex is not the answer.
Sex is the question.
Yes is the answer.

Painful orgasm is a rather bothersome side effect of prostate cancer treatment - it can happen with either RALP or with radiation. I've read it happens in up to 30% of men who've had radiation as their primary treatment. I don't know the percentage with surgery. I had it the first few times post-seeds (and on occasion since). It felt really strange - not an intense pain but pain nonetheless. I've no idea why it happens.

I had my surgery on 1-6-14 not long after your surgery and I have a discomfort (I guess?) where my prostate was. Not everytime but when I have extra strong orgasms. My orgasms are long kinda like in waves. Not like the fourth of july like they use to be. I find myself stopping so it doesn't reach the point of pain, mostly because I can tell my erections nerves are still healing. One time I had a very strong orgasm and I felt my libido drop off for a few weeks so Im trying to be careful not to slow down any healing of nerves. In summery, I get pain after a very strong orgasm that last for about
a day. My orgasms feel way stronger most times then before my surgery and that could be because they last longer, that could be were the pain is coming from. Not sure what to think ,Good Luck!!!!

Because of this whole pain issue, I am afraid of having sex for the first time. Can't believe I am even saying that. But its true. Right now, being only 4 weeks out of surgery, its not a big issue, because I was told to wait at least 4 weeks anyway, and I am going to wait until my next follow up with Dr, which is two weeks from now. But it makes me nervous, something I'll have to deal with eventually.
I remember after my first BIOPSY, I had sex the day after, and right after orgasm, I had a terrible burning coming from my prostate. It only lasted about
30 seconds, but it was bad. After the second biopsy, I knew better, and waited a few days.

Thanks for all the replies, the pain is gone now. I guess it's just part of the healing process.
