81,
DJI is one of the leading manufacturers of professional and amateur drones. The unit I am using is the Inspire 1 that was released this past January. It is a mid-Range/Professional drone system that runs about
$ 5,000.00 the way I have it equipped for pilot and co-pilot configuration. But I haven't used a cinematographer yet but that's coming in future weeks. Here is some information about
the Inspire aerial photography system:
www.dji.com/product/inspire-1I expect soon for more regulation on these devices. I am ok with it as I do have the pilots license and frankly I see the need for ground school so that not just yahoo can buy and operate a drone. It's one thing for the toy department but it is entirely something else for a drone like this one. I can easily fly this unit into Class B or C or D airspace and that's a big time problem for someone that does not know what that is. Safely operating a drone needs to take place in Class G and Class E airspace and that's why I am for ground school requirement to be permitted to fly.
But to your point, having a hobby like ATV's and Camera's just got better. All the folks at Cold Creek this weekend were loving it and were very nice and asking questions. It was also good that I stayed high above the wild horses though if you watch closely you will see them grazing around in the video.
