Swollen feet/ankles related to lymph node excision?

Have any of you RP/excision of lymp node folks had swollen feet/dependent edema in your feet?

I can not remember at what point after surgery I looked down and realized my left foot was badly swollen, but it wasn't very long. I think I got more surgical action on the left side, where my tumor could be felt, and the left foot has always been the main one to act up.

But I was thinking it had finally quit swelling. Then I went on a cruise a couple of weeks back, including a several hour flight to get to the ship. I look down on the cruise and I am swollen up at least as bad as ever, BOTH feet- though the left still was at least a bit worse. It stayed like that for the week I was gone, and I would prop my feet up whenever I got a chance.

I have been back a week or so, looked down a few days ago and realized there was zero swelling in either foot- all gone. I have not even been propping my feet up.

Anyone had this after surgery? If it is caused by the surgery, I wonder why it varies so much from one week to another? Actually, it is caused by the surgery, as I have never had this before and I was just reading up on it and it is a likely symptom of lymphocele, and not uncommon complication from lymph node surgery. But I was wondering if it is fairly common here at HWPC?

During my surgery, I have to put on those compression sock before wheeling into the operations theater preparing for the lymp nodes dissection. Sock was removed the next day, luckily there was no swelling on my legs.
Till date, I m still o.k. does'nt affect my movements.

I had 16 nodes removed, wore compression stockings for 3 weeks post surgery and 10 days of heparin injections. Everything was fine no swelling, no pain until 5 months later. After an 8 hour flight, I experienced severe pain in my right calf after walking maybe 200 yds., it has not gotten any better. I've done ultrasound to rule out DVT and continue to investigate. I think there is a correlation between the surgery and the flight bit not proven yet.

Holy Cow! I did not have most of that done that you mention. But I have had the swelling as I said from time to time, and it did flareup after this flight. Which makes me wonder if flying has something to do with it. Eight hours is a long flight!

The flight is what caused the swollen feet, take it to the bank.
