The womb continues to protect us

Vipul Patel, who claims to have performed the most robotic surgeries in the world, has tried a new technique with promising early results. He used dried amniotic sacs to protect the neurovascular bundles during nerve-sparing surgery on 58 patients. They were all pre-operatively potent and continent. When compared to a matched set of patients, the patients who "got the sac" had a faster return to continence and potency. It didn't significantly increase the rates of continence or potency, it just got them there faster.

This was not a randomized trial, and there was no other biomaterial used as a control, so results have to be taken with a dram of amniotic fluid. It may be that the experiment simply caused the surgeon to take more care in those 58 operations. I can only conjecture at how he arrived at dried amniotic sac for use in this and where he got them.

Vipul Patel is the man! This man is dedicated to fighting prostate cancer.

I believe he has over 7,000 surgeries now. Even with all that experience I still needed to have an AUS to stop my incontinence after my surgery with him. The patient who had his surgery right after me was dry in less than 6 weeks so you never know.

Glad to see he is always striving to improve recovery for men.
