a buddy of mine at the gym has been talking to me about
prostate cancer for more than a year. he's 60 and he had an elevated PSA of 5 several years ago and he had done nothing about
it.
the other day we were talking and he went into the usual denial about
he heard PSA tests don't work (thanks advocates!). he has a five-year-old daughter and I got tired of his bullshhit and I ripped into him.
a gentleman I didn't know stepped off a treadmill and walked over to us and he said he overheard our conversation. he also had prostate cancer which returned six years after LARP and he had just finished SR. he wore a baby blue wristband and said he ran a support group for guys with PC in the area. we tag teamed my friend and I could see he was finally listening.
yesterday my friend told me he went to the urologist and his PSA was 4.5. he was happy it had not risen and his doctor, which is my uro's partner, wanted to do a biopsy but my friend would only agree to coming back in six months for a retest. I asked him why and he said that biopsies can cause problems and spread cancer!
anyhow my friend has taken the first step and i'm confident that soon he'll get that biopsy. I told him in five months i'm going to start working on him again
.
