Psa after lupron

Had my lupron on injection July 27 to shrink my 84 cc prostate in order for me to have brachythrrapy in October...side effects not to troublesome and after my blood work yesterday was happy to find out my testosterone is 0.3...Lupron is working but what is alarming to both the oncologit's and me is the Psa never wavered at all from 7.0...should have dropped to at least 3 in that month....anyone have any experience with that....how long does it take for the Psa to drop following get a Lupron shot? I have another psa test in two weeks. Nurse says may be hormone resistant tumor or fibrous tumor...that's bad news if it is,as then I am no longer a brachy candidate....is she jumping the gun?

Or it may be prostatitis. Have you tried antibiotics?

I would have an expert pathology lab give a second opinion on your biopsy slides..

You gave your testosterone reading as 0.3 but perhaps it's actually 30, which is only borderline effective as a PC treatment. I would verify that test result...You could add Casodex to your ADT and see if that produces the results you are hoping for..You should have been on it (Casodex) the week they gave you the Lupron shot to block the effect of the "T" bounce..

If you have not read Dr. Pat Walsh's book "Surviving Prostate Cancer", now would be a good time to do so..

canadian lab values are different for t levels...6.7 to 28.9 is considered normal range...yes did experience the t bounce for sure..thinking I should probably wait until next bloodwork before hiring the panic button...read the book, thanks.

Lupron takes longer to work. The first 2 weeks your testosterone will spike and then start to drop. Retest in a month and that will tell you more. If you had Firmagon that will make your T drop fast and give you quicker results.

Okay,thanks. Hoping it's just a waiting game. First it was the prostate being too large for brachy and now this.

My husband's PSA went up the month after his first Zoladex shot in December 2014 from 1.08 to 1.2. (This is after failed prostatectomy and failed IMRT.) He then had a 3 month Zoladex shot and his psa went to .52 (T was 5) in April. He switched to 3 mo Lupron and added Casodex. PSA was .17 in June. His last psa test (about two weeks ago) was .11. Not sure what to think but it isn't what we expected.
