Pain

Hi,
I haven't posted in a while, Dad has exhausted all treatment avenues and we were told he had weeks to live, after this diagnosis things picked up and he improved, started eating, life was reasonably good.

Unfortunatly the good period seems to have come to an end and he is in terrible pain despite the medication listed below

BuTrans patches = 2x 20mg,
Ibuprofen = 800mg twice a day
gabapentin 3 times a day
OxyNorm upto 10mg every 4 hours

Just wondered if anyone else suffers severe pain and any tips on medication that will help

Theresa - I agree with trailguy. AND taking this amount of pain meds usually causes constipation which causes another set of problems. If thats the case, let his doc know.

So sorry that you have reached this very difficult time. Gary has been on the 12 m patch of fentanyl for a long while and can also take opiates for breakthrough pain.
I think Fairwind has a good suggestion. There are many sizes and it is time release. Seems to avoid stomach upset too.
You are in my prayers dear. You're dad must be so proud to have you as his daughter.
