Just had my UroNav biopsy a couple of hours ago... Of course many here are old hands but for newbies like me here was my recipie:

1. I had a Xanax and a Tylenol on board as a pre-emotive strike.
2. Music REALLY freakin helps! Once again 'Kasmir' very loud literally saved my sorry ass. It turns the click into a distant 'THUMP'.

No blood in post biopsy urine which was encouraging. Now just a dull ache. The worst parts?

1. Waiting 8 mutherfarking weeks
2. The initial lidocaine shots sting a bit
3. Trying not to count the thumps!
4. When they pulled the post coital 'Manpon' outta my ass!

Not something to have on your bucket list but not as bad as ones imagination tricks you into believing...

Now I wait... And lick the windows.

Hey, Paul. Too bad the doc couldn't time those 'clicks' to John Bonham's smashing on the skins!!! I'm jealous. I didn't get offered the 'music option' during mine! As I'm sure you know, be prepared for a few days of blood-tinged urine and possibly some small clots passing through. And your 'man juice?' Well, think 'tar' but the faster you can 'clear the pipes' the faster it'll be gone! Hey, don't judge me, LOL!

BTW, my doc, Dr. Carter was recommended by a friend of a friend at JH who's a research doc there, but Dr. Schaeffer was also recommended as being a 'great surgeon.' Had I decided on RALP rather than RRP, I'd likely have been his patient, too.

Thanks MD native! I actually took my iPhone/pod in with me and did my own thing, they were 100% cool with that.

Yeah I hear good things about Carter too and there's no doubt Schaeffer is a superb surgeon, just the user interface needs some work. My plan is to get the biopsy results then choose the Doc from there depending what I'm looking at...

No blood in urine at all so far, so keeping my fingers crossed. Wife is forewarned but might give it a day or three. Her reaction was "meh, periods, no biggie". Gotta love her :o)

I remember the sweat starting to drip off my forehead at about the 10 snap count. Meh, period, no biggie...
Yeah, right. In about a week your discharge will look like something nasty from the black lagoon. At least it did for me. Lasted about two weeks. Not a issue, but the thought of it did distract me a bit in my rush to get in as many sessions as I could with the wife before the RP.

Yeah, be prepared for a strange color reddish brown semen the next couple of times, protect the sheets from stains and warn the wife, she'll freak out.

I liked the music idea but I would have gone with Zep's "Moby Dick"!
It is much louder and more distracting. I saw them live in '69 and Bonham played the drums with his hands while doing Moby Dick.

Good luck with your biopsy results, why so long?

8 weeks was Hopkins 'earliest available' slot... after the MRI; not very impressive I'm telling myself that if they thought all the previous tests added up to an 'oh sh1t' it would have been sooner. Please no smart-ass deny me that delusion.

Yeah my wife was up to speed well in advance and we're both as braced as we can be... time to live out all those 'alien' fantasies!!!

I was wondering about 'Dazed and Confused but it has too many quiet spots for the Uro to sneak a 'click' into!

It's not uncommon for biopsy schedules to be 6-8 weeks ahead. And, for 99% of us, it's not an issue, PC just doesn't go that fast.

When I had my biopsy the Urologist told me to take 10mg Valium about 30 minutes before the procedure. After the procedure I told the urologist that a nice glass of red wine would have done better than the Valium. I told him if I ever have to go through this again that I would take 10mg hydrocodone or oxycontin before the procedure.

8 weeks to wait for results?

for me, biopsy 11/2 results 11/9, happy anniversary to me. oh the joy
