I hope you are not planning on leaving the forum. I enjoy your posts and perspective and i think others do as well. I see your screen name has disappeared from your posts, i hope that does not mean what i think it means.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. What does his user name disappearing mean? I was going to try and PM him but his name was gone. Don't leave us, Paul!

I just commented on that as well on another thread--in a joking fashion since I assumed it was some sort of technical glitch. (But then later saw the locked thread.) Hope a unique voice isn't lost from here.

Unfortunately, it appears that Paul decided to leave HW after received repeated flames from a long time member. As mods, we are sorry we didn't get to edit/delete soon enough to prevent this.

Paul, I'll echo that you are valued and welcome here.

Paul, You have a lot of good insight, as well as a good sense of humor. Take a day or two to cool off and then please come back. Sometimes I wonder if my dry sense of humor and sometimes a little "off color posts" will offend or incur the wrath of the gods..I mean, mods, but it's the diversity of the folks here that I love the most. We are mostly allowed to be ourselves, and that's what keeps this forum from becoming dry and boring. We are all part of that box of chocolates, and you are a nut. Btw, I love nuts.

Thank you to all those who have reached out so positively in this thread, you brought a lump to my throat.

I noticed that the flame even thought it appropriate to post among you, quite incredible, I have taken your sage advice and put a block in place to protect me from poison. The moderators seem to have a close eye there so I'll leave that to them.

I had tried to bring insight, humor, humility and action to this forum, I'll let that speak for itself.

My life is currently in pieces as I was indeed diagnosed with cancer yesterday; something which made the attack on me all the more effective as I find myself with very little in the way of emotional armor.

I'm not sure what the future will bring, hopefully good times among friends. Sleep would have been nice... but no.

Thank you for at least considering to being a part of the pc blog. I have thought of turning it off myself a few times as well. Usually after I disagree with advice or choose to not consider it; thats when the responses aren't so cozy and warm. I always reconsider for the comment you made about the genuine empathy from the folks here about our individual situations, or just us. For me those have been enough for me to realize I have something to offer from my unique situation. And yes this beast seems to make a person self-absorbed at the very least. We will carry it around as part of our daily lives for the long run no doubt. The difference I see is that 99.9% of the members will put their differences aside and take time to walk side by side with you as you continue your journey, your battle even. After the experiences of my short 57 years I find this rare in our current day and age, but I like it!

Paul, thanks for giving it another chance. When you're able, feel free to share with us the new hammerblow you have received, even if it's not PC. Hang in there.

Glad you came back Paul, the BS on the great thread you started is something that the long time member seems to relish. I had this person blocked for a while and it seems I'll have to do it again.

We are 99% helpful and friendly but with any population there are others that are just ........ insert your own word there...

We are here to help and support, I was in your shoes a few years ago and found this community to be incredibly supportive with information, emotional and moral support. You are not alone in your journey, we are here for you.

That's what makes this group so valuable to people dealing with all aspects of PC

Hi Paul,
Glad to see you are still here. Anxious to see the details of your diagnosis. But do not forget my previous posts to you(or I'm pretty sure it was you): even if you are about to have treatment, you DO NOT have to have surgery! You might choose that as the best option for you anyway, but there is no survival related reason why you must go that route. There are several other options available to you, most probably avoiding at least most of the severe SEs that you are probably worried about. So hang in there, and when you catch your breath give us the details.

As you stay awhile, you will notice that a few individuals always seem to push their pet tx. (or, on this thread, push AGAINST a certain tx). That is silly, especially in your case where you have a wide assortment of choices. They all have roughly the same cure probabilities. They have a different assortment of SE and timing of those SE, and there are other considerations (backup tx. as well as, mostly, your own psyche).

Your PC dx. is about as good as it could get (and still be PC). Instead of saying you don't have to do tx. X, I would rather say you are in the enviable position of deciding on whatever tx. you want (that can be difficult in itself, I know)

If you are so inclined, AS is also very possible (unless I misread something). In a sense, AS is also a tx.

Keep smiling, as best you can.

As for the poster who insulted you, keep in mind we are only human beings behind a computer screen. Just ignore the guy. I generally just gloss through his posts, mostly because I have no idea what he is saying and the purpose of writing out a post is, foremost, to communicate. It is kind of like the most basic advice I can give anyone starting a job: the first obvious thing you have to do is SHOW UP. On a forum, we put words on "paper" in order to communicate. If you can't do that, why post?

Thank you each and every one of you... I'm a bit of a basket case at the moment but am going to fix that by taking my bride on a 'date' to see the new James Bond movie. I think an Englishman gratuitously blowing sh1t up and the hand of a hot blonde is the right recipe right now! I'll digest and try to be intelligent tomorrow.
