0311,
Glad you found the VA filing easy. This was NOT my experience filing for VA aid and attendance for my elderly mother. It took over a full year before we got the first monthly check and I think we finally got benefits because we contacted the congressman and they went to bat for mom. They still owe 13 months back pay. They are giving us a hard time about that ( trying to rule on whether or not I am a good fiduciary).
about AO, I was 0311 but never served in Nam. However, I was a land management forester for a large timber company and we sprayed the herbicide 2,4,5-T for my first three years during spring and early summer. I got sprayed with that every day using mist blowers. FYI 2,4,5-T is the active ingredient in Agent Orange. Now look at me. Advanced PCa. I don't know if the chemical exposure caused this.
It's good that the VA is standing by the Vets with AO exposure. I don't know if there is any hope that I can get some kind of assistance for my exposure to this chemical as a just a regular civilian.
I have also found it odd that at no point in this whole PCa experience has anyone asked about past chemical exposure or other life events (maybe they did ask about smoking.. I never smoked) that could have caused this.
