Advance sling problem

Had my sling installed March 2015 and was very, very pleased with the results.  From two pads a day to dry.  Sometime in November my urethra started to burn when I peed. Then one day a very small blood clot appeared in the toilet. Go to see my Uro for a chat about possible cause.  He finds I have UTI and prescribes meds. and has me come back in a week for  uroscoping.  Doctor finds the sling has worn into my urethra. He says it's a first for him and very rare to his knowledge.  He states he must cut the sling and let my urethra go back to where ever.  This was a bad day for me as he says I will probably leak a lot from now on.

Has anyone experienced this problem?  Seems like there should be some kind of repair for this problem beyond just a snip and done.

Have decided I will seek a 2nd opinion on having the sling undone.  I don't think, as of now, that an AUS would be a good option.  Might change my mind if the sling has to be removed.  I was hoping to hear from someone who has had the same problem with an AdVance sling but it seems I have a rare occurrence.  Going to look for a second opinion starting in the AM.
