It was a surprise to hear about
David Bowie's passing ...
Over Christmas, I had just seen the holiday video from some years ago of David Bowie singing "Little Drummer Boy" with Bing Crosby ... an unexpected pairing of singers from different eras, to be sure ...
When I was growing up in the 1970s, my first memory of David Bowie was of him performing on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE in the 1970s ... back in the S.N.L. cast days of Gilda Radner, Dan Ackroyd, Jane Curtin, John Belushi, & Bill Murray ...
Yep --- I've had the songs "China Girl" --- "Fame" --- "Major Tom" --- and "Young Americans" running through my mind ever since hearing the news of his passing ... songs from all the party soundtracks of my college years --- yep, my "toga party" years ... I've got old college girlfriends telling me that pictures of me from those toga parties might still be in their possession ...
But today, I've got David Bowie's song "GOLDEN YEARS" running through my head ... rock on !
Rest in peace, David Bowie ...
