Hello,
I’m relatively new here, diagnosed on December 30th and still gathering more diagnostics. It seems I have a chance at Active Surveillance and will move to an AS diet now while waiting. I need to decide how strict to do that. A Johns Hopkins urologist, when I described having cut out red meat, cheese, etc., said it’s taken 5-10 years for my PC to reach it’s current stage, there’s no need for drastic diet changes. Another urologist, here in Sarasota and given my same diet description, said a steak once a week was fine. It’s possible both of them assumed I wound be doing aggressive treatment and diet would be less critical.
For now I’d like to hear what other AS participants are doing for diet. I’ve read some that are essentially on a vegan diet while others seems a bit less strict. Some specific questions:
Red meat (steak, lamb, veal): none, quarterly, monthly, weekly?
Cheese: none, quarterly, monthly, weekly? Garnish on a salad?
Milk: 2%, skim milk, milk alternatives
Thanks!
Rob
