Howdy.
Well, you may recall that about 6 weeks ago, I suddenly got a large urinary bleed after straining a lot during a bowel movement. My urologist wanted me to immediately get a CT Scan and a cystoscope. But I was about to leave for my 30-day sunbird trip.
The bleeding cleared up within hours and has not repeated.
I asked Drs. King and Lam and Tall Allen about that and decided to do no tests. It was most likely a broken blood vessel due to straining, or maybe radiation cystitis. I had my routine appointment with my urologist today. As expected, she is of course concerned about cancer, despite the low probability of such.
Anyway, I agreed to have my urine sent out for a cytology test. If positive, according to her, it is very likely that I do have a cancer, probably very high grade. If it's negative, it proves nothing. Still it would be a little reassuring. So, she talked me into it.
I get results in a week. I guess it's a prudent thing to do.
Anyone familiar with such testing?
Oh, also, if I do get a repeat bleed, I will do the CT thing and scope
