It has been quite a while since I wrote a post to this Forum, though I do read it most days.
After my RP in June 2010 my PSA has been undetectable but I have had minor problems with incontinence ( 1 small pad or shield per day ). At my five year check-up my urologist suggest he could solve even this small leakage by use of the ADVance male sling. He convinced me and I had the operation in Jan this year (2016).
I was not prepared for the post-surgery pain - worse than that with my RP and with my knee replacement.
But the big disappointment was that I now needed THREE big pads each day. I had virtually no control over my urination. Numerous tests and measurements followed and he thinks that possibly the neck of the bladder has been stretched.
The latest suggestion is that the ADVance sling is removed and replaced by a European model called the AMI ATOMS (Adjustable Transobturator Male System). This is adjustable and apparently has a high satisfaction rate from patients.
Just wondered if anyone on the forum has any experience with this system ?
No info for you, but as a guy who still contemplates having something done to get rid of any remaining minor inconvenience- and the joy of never having to think about
being ready to clamp down in a hurry- it really sucks that you ere made worse by this procedure. But also interesting to hear about
this ATOMs sling. Good luck.
Also, have you considered an AUS?
