So, how do you suppose it became law that MC could not negotiate drug prices? Just how in the world would our government, always trying to cut back on what MC will pay for, jump up and make such a rule that would cost them megabucks?
I am not sure, but I do not believe there is a law that says Medicare can't negotiate prices, there is just no law giving it authority to do so. Could be big pharma political donations and lobbying are preventing that from happening.
Medicaid the other hand is State run, funded by Federal Grants, and some States do negotiate prices.
The thing of it is, most countries, unlike the United States, negotiate prices with the drug companies. So, in effect, we in the U.S.A. are subsidizing drug costs for the rest of the world.
Another reason our medical costs increase soo much!
Something wrong there - isn't it!!
