As I am on the mailing list for the New Prostate Cancer InfoLink Social Network, I regularly get emails, announcements, etc. from them on PCa–related issues. (Perhaps some of you do as well).
This morning I found in my inbox a mass email from Mike Scott over there with the following text:
Subject: Need U.S. prostate cancer patients to talk to the media
Hi folks …
I need at least a couple of U.S.-based prostate cancer patients who were diagnosed with low-risk prostate cancer (Gleason 6, PSA<10, clinical stage T1c or lower) about 5 to 10 years ago and who had an immediate radical prostatectomy. I don't care whether you are mad as heck now that you know you could have had active surveillance or you would tell the media that you'd do the immediate surgery all over again tomorrow. Ideally I'd like at least one of each. If you are willing to speak with an important healthcare journalist about this, please let me know ASAP. You can email me directly at this address
and send me a phone number too please.
Thanks
MikeCurious. There are certainly issues here that we have discussed from time to time, with it often becoming a "vigorous" discussion, but I would think it's rather interesting that a prominent PCa figure such as Mike Scott would send out an email such as this one. And who is this "important healthcare journalist," and what is his motivation in all of this?
I took a quick look at their website:
/prostatecancerinfolink.netbut saw nothing elaborating further on this (at least not yet), so for now this may be one of those "stay tuned" sorts of things.
Perhaps we'll hear more about
it as it develops, possibly more from Mike himself.
Again, curious.
