Newer and better tests are coming. The STHLM3 prostate cancer screening test, compared with current clinical screening, significantly reduces the rate of unnecessary biopsies without compromising the identification of high-risk prostate cancer.
The STHLM3 test is now available in Sweden, and the researchers hope to expand it to other countries, including the United States, in the near future.

Platy, that's the standard biopsy. When you see us refer to things like "3/12 positive cores", what we're referring to is the TRUS procedure where they take a number of samples while looking at an ultrasound view of the prostate via the rectum (Trans Rectal UltraSound).

It's unpleasant, and has some weird side effects (blood in urine and semen for a while), but it's pretty much the standard beginning point for almost all of us.
