Hello Jannnett,
Hair loss can really vary during Taxotere chemotherapy infusions.
In my case, I lost all the hair on the top of my head about
10 days or so after the first infusion. I went to the barber shop and got a short "buzz cut" and then a few days later, all the hair started falling out, so I shaved it all off with a set of hair clippers.
Meanwhile, some friends of mine had just "patchy" hair loss, but not complete hair loss.
At the same time, other friends of mine kept all their hair intact, which can happen sometimes.
Hair loss is very typical --- so I adjusted to life with a bald head --- I did buy casual hats and dress hats for various social events and also to wear outside in cold weather.
That being said --- my Taxotere treatments stretched out over the course of four months (6 treatments X 3 weeks apart = 18 weeks of treatments).
Slowly, very slowly --- my hair started to grow back after the last chemotherapy infusion --- I have Scandinavian ancestry, with fine golden hair --- so my hair took a while to grow back --- in my case, a period of months.
I finished my Taxotere treatments in late November of 2014 --- by springtime, my hair was growing in, but still rather short, but covering my head completely again. By early summer, I finally went and got my first official haircut.
To be honest, I had to be very patient, watching my hair grow back rather slowly. It is a process and takes a few months for the hair to reach its full length, once again.
This is my personal experience with hair re-growth --- I hope this is helpful to you, Jannnett, and I hope your father is doing well.
Sent with my best from the United States to you and your father in India,

I had my first infusion on Apr 26......took 3 weeks before my hair started to seriously thin. I had my 2nd infusion on May 17th.....right now I've lost about
50% of my hair....and it is still falling out.
