Hey Chris, sounds like you are doing well after only one month. Drinking beer already and being diaper free at this point sounds great, and getting some response from viagra shows you are on a good track.
Yeah, I would be cautious about push ups this early, most of what I heard was give it 2 months before starting anything strenuous and even then start slowly. Some men end up with hernias from the surgery and I don't know if any core type exercises too early can contribute or not but I would be careful and stick to any guidelines your Docs gave you.
My surgery roommate started doing ab work probably a month or so out from surgery and even added weights doing them. He ended up with 2 hernias and after surgery to repair them, one is still giving him problems and will require another surgery. Now the Urologist who was in on the original prostate surgery; not the surgeon himself, said the hernias were the result of the surgery and not the sit ups, but I don't know if he just said that so my friend did not blame himself; as his pathology was very poor and he has enough to worry about. His surgery, etc. was part of a clinical trial so they would repair the hernias free of charge regardless of what caused it so I don't think they minded shouldering the blame. Of course I'm just speculating as I have no idea what causes hernias. But I can't imagine that anything strenuous can be a good idea so early after surgery.
But it sounds like you have a pretty good grasp on everything and I wish you continued success in your recovery....Jim
