I wish I had ejaculated more!

This news comes too late for most of us, except those who are pre-diagnosis. An update of a longitudinal tracking study shows that there is an inverse association between PC incidence and ejaculatory frequency in one's 20s, 40s, and in the last year.

While they did not look at recurrence after definitive treatment, I believe wholeheartedly that the same salutary effect holds true, and applies to orgasms (and not just ejaculations). I intend to alter my behavior accordingly.

I thought I was doing a pretty good job starting around age 14. But clearly there was room for improvement.

Well not after you have lost your prostate. You can orgasm, but you can't ejaculate.

Another related query. We all know you shouldn't play jiggy jiggy before a PSA test because it can affect the reading. I have assumed that only applies when you have an intact prostate, but is that also the case for de prostated guys? Surely not, cos you aren't massaging the prostate and any PSA lurking is coming from a met somewhere else in the body and not affected by muscular contractions in and around Percy the penis.

This study was independent of another group of researchers who reached a similar conclusion earlier this year. I posted this link back in April 2016: www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=3610033

The "Take Home Message" from that April study was:

"In a large prospective study with long-term follow-up, men who reported more frequent ejaculation in adulthood had a lower risk of total incidence of prostate cancer. Ejaculation frequency represents a potentially modifiable risk factor for prostate cancer."

In other words...the last sentence basically suggests that you should suggest to your son that he ejaculate more as a preventative measure against PC

I agree that PSA should be unaffected by sex or exercise or obstruction, prostatitis, or BPH after the prostate is gone. That is the use of PSA that it was originally developed for.

ASadvocate - sadly, most men who have RT lose the ability to ejaculate at orgasm too. Another reason to stay on AS as long as possible.

Paxton - we are obviously outliers.

I figured why this doesn't work for all of us here. We all must be a statistical outliers, an aberration from the normal.
