Zometa and osteonecrosis of jaw

My dad has been experiecibg very deep pain in his jaw. And numbness in his lower lip after 1st infusion of zometa.

A consultation with a dentist confirmed that he has osteonecrosis of jaw. And suggest to extract all his lower teeths.

My qustion is does he has to stop using zometa now. He missed 2 infusions now because of the dental works.
But should the treatment be discontinued?

Lalla,
I would suggest you do NOT let the dentist pull your Dads teeth until you speak with a specialist. From my understanding necrosis causes have to be unable to heal and it could make matters worse. And yes you need to discontinue xgeva. Also call the pharmaceutical manufacturer and report the necrosis and ask for suggestions to treat. You might ask a Medonc what else to do for none loss. Maybe salmon calcitate...not sure that's spelled correctly. Good luck and keep is posted.
