Been a little over 3 years since my diagnosis. Had VA PSA of .6 last month and usual lab PSA of .72 last week. Coupled with the great biopsy I had last year my doctor has recommended we go to 18 months on the biopsies and I agreed.

good grief. You didn't have a prostatectomy, you gave birth!

At last biopsy, March of 16, my prostate was down to 40.

I would agree with saying on AS. BTW, that is the largest prostate size I have ever read about
.
However, in a strict AS protocol, you should have had an mp-MRI with fusion guided biopsies. If I were you, I would ask for the MRI now, and also see if you can arrange an OncotypeDX or Prolaris genomics test on that one positive core from the last biopsy. One other suggestion, replace your psa tests with PHI, which is more comprehensive and accurate.

Hey, super cool, ShinytopPC!! Super cool!
Question for you...do you mind speaking up on behalf of all mankind? (Just kidding; just on behalf of all men on AS....ok, JK again, just on behalf of yourself)
At 3+ years after your diagnosis, could you please share your personal insight/experience with this:
Dr Klotz (you know who Dr Klotz is, right?) says that the "anxiety" of men with similar low-risk cases usually starts out about
the same, and then after about
a year or two starts to diverge between the 2 subsets of those who pursued immediate treatment and those who go on AS. Klotz reports that anxiety of those who sought immediate treatment generally stays elevated as they deal with side effects and follow-up, but after a year or two anxiety of men on AS generally goes down as they gain confidence from greater knowledge about
the disease and also from watching their cohort peers who sought treatment deal with problematic side effects.
What's your comment/observation about
your own "anxiety" 3+ years after diagnosis and on AS?
Thanks for giving that some thought, and
congratulations
!

I am a geek and did a wide variety of reading about
PC when my doctor sent me to the urologist. I was 66 with heart issues since the age of 47. So I knew that unless I had a high Gleason score I was unlikely to die from PC. So my anxiety has not been super high. Any I had peaked with the 4 positive cores but everything has improved since then. I may ask my urologist about
the MRI guided procedure during my next appointment.
I am of the mindset of quality of life over length so if/when I need treatment I lean towards that with fewest side effects. So I watch this site and others on a regular basis. So far I lean toward proton therapy but luckily I do not have to decide yet.
