xtandi side effects

my father was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in december of 2014. his PSA was over 1000. they put him on lupron, casodex and zometa. that worked really well until a couple months ago. after about a year his PSA dropped to 0.2 and stayed there for about 5 months. he had no side effects and lived a normal life. two months ago he had very bad constipation and doctor just gave him some laxatives. that didnt work. a month later he went the ER and they found that a mass was growing and pushing against his intestines. His PSA has been at 0.1 for the last two months even with the growing mass. his doctor put him on xtandi about 3 weeks ago. he has been experiencing really bad side effects. he is always tired, he sleep most of the day, he has no appetite and is losing weight fast. he is getting very weak and can barely walk and might need a wheelchair soon. he told the doctor and she said to keep taking it. has anyone had any experience with xtandi? are these side effects normal? anything we can do to help alleviate some of the side effects? any other meds we can try besides xtandi? will the side effects every get any better? he seems to be deteriorating quickly. he has lost at least 20 pounds the last month or so. he has almost no quality of life right now. is it odd that his PSA is at 0.1 but the cancer was growing? thanks in advance.

Tony, I hate to hear that about your father. Zytiga makes me tired, but not to the point that I will need a wheelchair. What are they doing about the mass? He can always ask for the Zytiga to see if that helps. But the mass presents a difficult situation for your father. Please sit down with his oncologist with a list of questions to ask him,and to see where his treatment stands, both for the cancer and also for the mass
