This is a question that is unlikely to find a definitive answer, but I am curious, so I will ask.
As you can see, I also had colon cancer, just one year before my PCa dx. I had a right hemi-colectomy, and then 12 cycles of FOLFOX6 adjuvant chemo over 24 weeks. (Folfox6 is the usual chemo for colon cancer, and consists of a regimen of 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin and oxaliplatin.)
My question: my PCa was obviously already well developed during this time, only a year earlier. Could the Folfox chemo have had an effect on the PCa? (Positive or negative.) We know chemo generally attacks most fast-dividing cells (hence the impact on one's blood cells, for example). Since PCa is generally also in this category, I presume, it would have attacked the PCa. Or not?
I realise this is an hard question, but I was keen to hear if anyone has any views on this. I also realise this applies to relatively few people (thankfully), but I do know that there are others for who have had to deal with PCa and other cancers.
